About the crop
Mango is a subtropical to tropical fruit. In Turkey the growing area has expanded in recent years along Antalya's Alanya–Gazipaşa belt and around Anamur in Mersin; the domestic market has a limited local supply alongside imported mangoes.
Growing difficulty: Moderate It is frost-sensitive, but the microclimate belts of the Mediterranean coast suit open-field and protected production.

- High sensitivity to chilling injury
- Uneven ripening
- Blotchy skin and quality loss if held above 30°C for more than 10 days
- Storage
- Unripe (mature-green) mangoes can suffer chilling injury below 10–13°C, well before freezing; symptoms are a greyish, scald-like appearance, pitting, uneven ripening and poor flavour and colour. Storage at 10–12°C and 90–95% relative humidity is recommended.
