About the crop
Raspberries are a berry with small-scale but established cultivation in Turkey, sold to the fresh and frozen markets; most of the crop comes from Bursa.
Growing difficulty: Moderate The chilling requirement suits the Marmara and Black Sea regions, but a very short shelf life and delicate fruit make the job harder.

- Needs a temperate climate and a period of winter chilling.
- Growing regions
- Bursa leads Turkish production (85.2%), followed by Bolu (8.8%) and Kütahya (1.9%) (TurkStat, 2024). Total national output is about 7,100 tonnes.

- Grey mould (Botrytis cinerea)
- Very short shelf life after harvest
- Bruising during picking and transport
- Storage
- Storage at 0–1°C extends shelf life from about 2 days to 5 days; 90–95% relative humidity reduces water loss and shrivelling. A modified atmosphere of 15–20% CO2 and 5–10% O2 slows grey mould and softening.
