About the crop
Goldenberry (Physalis peruviana) arrived in Turkey via Italy in 1995. The Atatürk Horticultural Central Research Institute in Yalova carried out adaptation studies, and production trials began in 2007; it is still a small-scale, regional crop.
Growing difficulty: Moderate Adaptation studies have been positive, but commercial production is still limited and the market is developing.

- Can be grown in the open field in mild to warm climates.
- Growing regions
- It has no separate item in TurkStat statistics. According to academic studies, production trials have spread across the Marmara, Aegean and Mediterranean regions, with isolated cases of production reported on the Söke Plain (Aydın) and in Erzincan.
