About the crop
Dill is an aromatic herb used for its fresh leaves and seeds, in pickles, brines and cooking. Hatay leads Turkish production by a wide margin.
Growing difficulty: Easy It grows quickly and needs little care, but it wilts fast and must be moved quickly after harvest.
- Growing regions
- Hatay leads Turkish production (61.7%), followed by Eskişehir (9.6%) and Antalya (7.6%) (TurkStat, 2024). Total national output is about 15,000 tonnes.
- Cultivation
- Grown mainly in the open field; in Antalya there is limited winter production in greenhouses and tunnels.
