About the crop
Rocket is a leafy green with a peppery, mustard-like flavour, eaten fresh in salads and meze. More than three quarters of Turkish output comes from Eskişehir.
Growing difficulty: Easy It is ready to cut in 3–5 weeks and needs little care; the real challenge is how quickly it wilts after harvest.
- Growing regions
- Eskişehir leads Turkish production (77.0%), followed by İzmir (7.0%) and Antalya (2.3%) (TurkStat, 2024). Total national output is about 44,000 tonnes.
- Cultivation
- Widely grown both in the open field and in greenhouses; it stands out as a winter export crop in the greenhouses of Antalya (Gazipaşa, Alanya) and Muğla (Ortaca).
