Black cabbage (kara lahana, sold as "Black Sea leaf") is a broad-leaved, cold-hardy cabbage that is a signature of Black Sea cooking; it is sold at the market by the bunch.
Growing difficulty: Easy It is very cold-hardy and gives good-quality leaves in winter conditions.

- Samsun leads Turkish production (24.1%), followed by Giresun (15.2%), Ordu (12.0%) and Trabzon (11.1%) (TurkStat, 2024). Total national output is about 47,000 tonnes.
